Manager, Health, Safety & Environment

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and promote Penguin’s no-blame health and safety culture in which leaders lead by example.
  • Plan and conduct health and safety meetings, training programmes and other initiatives. Training applies to managers as well as workers.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits on the group’s safety management systems at its shipyards in Singapore and Batam.
  • Maintain an updated record of health and safety data on the group’s shipyard activities in Singapore and Batam.
  • Stay up-to-date on key health and safety regulations from relevant government authorities.
  • Manage prevailing Safe Management Measures at the group’s Singapore shipyard. These measures, which include RRTs and ARTs, apply to employees, subcontractors and visitors.
  • Work closely with our HR team to manage the health and welfare of our migrant shipyard workers living in dormitories.

Basic Requirements:

  • Good leadership and communication skills, able to empathise with all levels of staff and workers.
  • Minimum tertiary education in a related field of study.
  • Registered WSHO certificate from Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower, with at least 6 years of hands-on experience in a shipyard.
  • Certified Fire Safety Manager (FSM).
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office programs (eg, Word, Excel, Teams).
