Electric Dream to Reality

Penguin is designing and building a fleet of pure electric 200-pax ferries and high-powered 2,900 kVA rapid shore chargers, which it will own and operate on behalf of Shell in Singapore.

From early 2023, our Electric Dream ferries will ply between Singapore’s Pasir Panjang ferry terminal and Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park on the southern island of Pulau Bukom.

This landmark electrification project is a first for Shell worldwide and a first for Singapore.

Our Electric Dream ferry is designed to cruise at a speed of 21 knots, while ensuring a safe, efficient (and silent) commute for our passengers and eliminating about 6,000 tons of CO2 emissions a year. This amount of CO2 reduction is about 20 times more than that of a typical 80-pax electric bus in Singapore.

Distance: 3 nautical miles
Cruising Speed: 21 knots
One-Way Trip Duration: 12 mins
Charging Duration: 6 to 8 mins

Penguin had previously delivered a hybrid-electric pilot boat to Shell Bukom and a hybrid-electric patrol boat to Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority.
